We use AI in nearly everything we build, and it is the main reason a small senior team can deliver software in weeks that used to take a quarter. This post is a plain description of what that means in practice, because “AI-powered development” gets said a lot and explained rarely.

Reading before writing

Most projects start with an existing system: a legacy application, a codebase from a departed developer, a decade-old database. AI tooling lets us read and map unfamiliar code at a pace that was impossible three years ago. What used to be weeks of spelunking is now days.
